Our client Julie wanted an easy-care, low maintenance option for her new roof. Another consideration was that she wanted to feel safer in the event of further earthquake activity in Christchurch.
Heavy concrete and clay tiles did not do well in the earthquakes; they became either completely dislodged or displaced. Many tile roofs lost their weather tightness after the quakes and falling tiles was a real safety issue. The much lighter long run metal roofing was observed to withstand the seismic stresses without significant problems, as it moved with the forces.
Julie chose .40-gauge ZinaCore for a new roof. The colour is Gull Grey, which gives a light contemporary look to the property.
We installed a new internal gutter to Taylor Fascia and fixed new purlins with screws and galvanized nails. Initially, we priced just for the house reroof, however, Julie said the house looks so great …let’s do the garage too!
We painted the gable ends of the house and garage. Julie is very happy with her safer, revamped house and garage.
